Rev. Robert Byrd Dawson

"Pastor Rob," a Richmond, Virginia native, has served as Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Petersburg since the Fall of 2007. An alumnus of Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, Virginia (B.A., Religious Studies, 1979), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas (Master of Divinity, 1984) and Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia (Clinical Pastoral Education, 1984), Pastor Rob has served several Virginia Baptist Churches during the past 34 years. These include Coan Baptist Church, Heathsville, Virginia, Pastor (Rappahannock Baptist Association 1984 - 86), Bainbridge Street Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, Pastor (Richmond Baptist Association, 1987 - 2004), First Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care and Senior Adults (Richmond Baptist Association, 2005 - 2007), and First Baptist Church, Petersburg, Virginia, Pastor (Petersburg Baptist Association, 2007 - Present.

Pastor Rob has four children: Lauren, Maryanne, Summer, and his late son, Morgan. He also has three grandchildren: Isabella, Levi and Dawson.
